BALTIMORE—Yesterday, Transamerica presented $5,000 to The Salvation Army of Central Maryland. The donation is a result of the charitable services committee supporting a longstanding employee effort to fill stockings for boys and girls in the Central Maryland area.

Employees of Transamerica’s Life & Protection division committed to filling 100 stockings with toys and clothing items for children in need in Central Maryland. The charitable services committee chose to support the employees’ effort by donating $25 for every stocking filled, but in the end decided to double that donation.

“We are thankful to the employees of Transamerica for providing for children in need who may not otherwise receive gifts,” said Major Gene A. Hogg, Area Commander for The Salvation Army of Central Maryland. “The additional funding provided by the charitable services committee will help support the services provided to our neighbors in need long after the holiday season.”

“At Transamerica we strive to Transform Tomorrow for the millions of individuals and families who depend on the products and services we provide.  Similarly, we strive to make a positive difference in the communities where we work and live,” said Gregory Tucker, Senior Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications for Transamerica.  “Our support for the work of the Salvation Army – and for other socially active organizations – is a further reflection of our belief that we have broader obligations to help those around us when we can.  It’s not only about financial contributions, but also engaging with those who stand to benefit from the valuable services of organizations like the Salvation Army.”
