About The Salvation Army of Central Maryland
The Salvation Army, an evangelical part of the universal Christian church established in Maryland in 1885, has been supporting those in need in His name without discrimination for more than 150 years. Nearly one hundred thousand Marylanders receive assistance from The Salvation Army each year through a range of social services: providing food for the hungry, relief for disaster victims, clothing, and shelter to the homeless, and after-school programs for underprivileged children through its partnership with The Boys and Girls Club of America. Eighty-two cents of every dollar The Salvation Army spends is used to support those services in Maryland.

To help raise money for The Salvation Army of Central Maryland’s programs, our Women’s Auxiliary hosted their third annual Garden Party at the Country Club of Maryland on May 15. Doors opened at 11 a.m. and over 120 people attended the event. The reservation fee was $25 and the guests enjoyed a lunch and dessert, provided by the country club.

The Salvation Army’s Women’s Auxiliary is a volunteer group that hosts various fundraising events to send kids to camp, provide toiletries for Booth House, and aid other programs for The Salvation Army of Central Maryland. With over 100 active members, the Women’s Auxiliary also provides hundreds of service hours, making them a core part of our organization.

J and J Entertainers provided the music for the event, including renditions of classics such as Beyond the Sea and Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow.

Attendees had a chance to shop a variety of beaded, statement, pendant jewelry. Lucky guests also received gifts from Sally’s Surprises, consisting of spring floral centerpieces, comforter set, beach accessories, paintings, and more!

“Being a part of the Women’s Auxiliary is the most rewarding and fulfilling thing to do. You get to help people and know that your time, efforts, and money are going to a wonderful cause, helping the Salvation Army,” said Betsie Johnson, Women’s Auxiliary President and Advisory Board Member.
