The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Clubs Celebrate Last Day of Summer Camp
To celebrate the last day of summer camp, The Salvation Army of Central Maryland’s Boys & Girls Clubs held a Day Camp Fun Finale on August 12. The event took place at the Boys & Girls Club of Middle River from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. 97 children, along with 30 staff and volunteers, participated in the event.
The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Clubs enrich the lives of youth by improving their health, welfare, and quality of life. The Day Camp Fun Finale was formulated to congratulate the club kids on graduating summer camp.
The Salvation Army of Central Maryland has three Boys & Girls Club locations: Franklin Square, Middle River, and Glen Burnie. Each Boys & Girls club represented their location by wearing green for Franklin Square, orange for Glen Burnie, or yellow for Middle River. Staff split the kids into groups according to their gender and ages and each group was assigned to a leader. The kids prayed and had lunch before partaking in the games.
A wide variety of games were available including an inflatable obstacle course, jousting, bowling, and other ball activities. Each child also had a chance to earn tickets from the games, which were redeemed for gifts.
The club kids also received gift bags and danced to music before the day’s end.
