The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary Hosts First Garden Party

To help raise money for The Salvation Army of Central Maryland’s programs, our Women’s Auxiliary hosted their first Garden Party at the Country Club of Maryland on May 17. Doors opened at 11 a.m. and over 90 people attended the event. The reservation fee was $25 and the guests enjoyed a catered lunch and a musical performance by Mr. Charisma.

The Salvation Army’s Women’s Auxiliary is a volunteer group that hosts various fundraising events to send kids to camp, provide toiletries for Booth House, and aid other programs for The Salvation Army of Central Maryland. With over 100 active members, the Women’s Auxiliary also provides hundreds of service hours, making them a core part of our organization.

Women’s Auxiliary President and Advisory Board Member Betsie Johnson was the event’s speaker and central Maryland area commander Major Rebecca Hogg did the invocation.

Many of the attendees purchased jewelry and raffle tickets for Sally’s Surprises, hand-made gift baskets that featured various trinkets like hats, teapots, and gift cards.

The Women’s Auxiliary raised over $2,000 at the Garden Party and they hope to make this an annual event.
